Daly City

Daly City is another city in the 415 area code. It lies south of San Francisco, and is the largest city in the County of San Mateo. It has a population of approximately 100,000 residents. Like San Francisco, this 415 area code city is very racially diverse. It is made up of about 51% Asians, just 14% Caucasian, and 5% African American. This racial diversity is reflected in the lawyers and the legal industry as well. For example, in 1991 the Asian American Bar Association extended its pro bono clinic to Daly City. This clinic was also co-sponsored by the lawyers in the Filipino American Bar Association. many Daly City Lawyers are mebers of various ethnic bar associations in California. Additionally, Michael Guingona, who was one of Daly City's most prominent council members and mayors, now works as a lawyer in private practice.

Daly City is known for its shopping, particularly by residents of San Francisco. This is due to the fact that parking is more readily available in this 415 area code city than in San Francisco, and also due to lower sales tax rates. Serramonte Center and Westlake Shopping Center are both prominent shopping centers in Daly City. Many lawyers who reside in San Francisco and in other parts of the San Francisco Bay Area come here to shop for clothes and other modern conveniences.

Daly City is also well-known for being one of the stops on the BART system. Possibly as a result of this, the U.S. Census Bureau has shown this 415 area code city to have the highest transit ridership. Many of those riding on BART are lawyers and other professionals commuting to and from work.
